Overheard

Wyeth and Seren are both total crack ups. As I think all children are at this age. 5 and 3 is just too much. Too many questions. Too many working minds. I love it.

"Do you think the Easter Bunny will come in the front door or the back door? I hope the back door. I don't want him having to hop all the way to the front!" -Seren

"Stocking shop is open for spring! What do you want from there?" He then took orders. Nodding as we ticked off our desires. (Stocking Shop is the make believe shopping store that sells EVERYTHING!)- Wyeth

Upon looking at my dry cracked hands, "Oh no! Did your bones outgrow your hands?"- Seren

A new expression. "What in the picture frame are you talking about!?" (aka what the hell are you talking about?)- Seren

"When I grow up, I may be a daddy but I'll still be me."- Wyeth

"I don't want to be a parent. No way. The only good thing is you don't get time outs." -Wyeth

"Remember when I was little? And you held me in your arms? Can you do that? Rock me like I was little?"- Wyeth

Oh, these moments are so funny. And so fleeting. I love being a mom. And I love my kiddos.

Big Boy Bed: Part One

Around these parts, we often take the cheap (hard) way to do things.  With a tip from my mom, we noticed that President's Day is a good time to buy a mattress.

And we do have a big boy in our house. (Big boy= wears undies).  (If you call him 'baby boy' as I often do, he will correct you).

Anyway, we bought a mattress back in February. It was sold out. We waited. And waited.  Meanwhile, we have no actual desire to do this transition. He is a night cake at night on a good night! Chatting. Singing. Reading. Making requests for our time. Well until 9:15 pm.

But we bought the mattress. And my parents already gave him sheets and a comforter for Christmas. We essentially are all set.

We just had to go pick it up. Ya know. To avoid the delivery fee.

Here is us last week picking up the mattress, strapping it to the car and holding on to it for dear life as we headed home.

Part One accomplished.

Now we just need to assemble the bed my parents are loaning us, and 'deal' with the transition.

Animals At the Office

One day last month Wyeth looked up at me with his big blue smiling eyes and said, "Mommy! Reindeer Baby has been wanting to come to the office with you! Can he come today? And can you take pictures?"
"Sure" I replied weakly.

Wyeth started dancing around with joy. And I tucked "Reindeer Baby" (RB) into my purse for a long day at the office.

Then I started to have fun. I took pictures of him doing various things and sent them back to Wyeth, my mom and dad (who were watching him in the morning) and Sam.

Here he is typing:

Here he is making lunch:

Here he is on his 3 pm coffee break:

I continued to crack myself up. At one point, when I was bringing him back from the lunch room, my colleague (and friend) asked me, "Megan! Are you carrying a stuffed reindeer?"  Why yes I am. I proceeded to tell the above story. Minus the part about taking pictures of it.  When I concluded that he was visiting me for the day, she asked the next logical question, "Ok, So, it is with you. Why are you walking in the hallway with it? Are you taking it to meetings with you?" I sheepishly replied "Because I was taking a picture of it by the microwave and sent it to my son via my cell phone."

Sigh.

Parenting is so humiliating.

But the day ended. And I ran out the door.

Wouldn't you know I left the damn thing on my desk!

Tears ensued when I returned home empty handed. Big sad tears.

I told Wyeth he was having a sleep over.

The next morning Seren comes up to me with a twinkle in her eye. You know the one.  "What's up kiddo!?"

"Can you take pink baa-baa to the office today??"

Oh lord. They were multiplying! So he came the next day. When I got to the office I immediately pretended Reindeer Baby was still sleepping and sent this to Wyeth.

Then Pink Baa Baa got in on the office action.

Answering the phone.

Heading out for a walk:

It was ridiculous.

And I loved every minute!

Everyone has heard of "bring your kids to work day". But come on! I showed creativity! Bring your kids' stuffed animals!? Awesome!

Who do you want to bring?
